My name is Sean, I’m the general manager here in The Smoke Haus, Cardiff. I oversee basically everything here, from making sure the floor, the bar and the kitchen is working correctly and also dealing with any problems before reporting to HR and marketing departments.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE ITEM ON THE MENU?
My favourite thing on our menu would have to be the Donut burger with Swiss cheese and streaky bacon yet I’d say the most popular has to be The Hog father because of the pulled pork with the warm BBQ sauce. Our pulled pork is brilliant, and it really seems to be peoples go to meal. They tend stick to it, because it’s what they already know.
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY MAKES THE SMOKE HAUS SO SUCCESSFUL?
I think the key element is the people that work here, I mean we’ve all got our quirkiness, in a way. Also probably the environment, it’s so different to anywhere in Cardiff. The whole ethos that you get walking into when visiting the store, from the music that’s playing, to the graffiti on the walls and the food on the menu. You don’t really see it anywhere else.
WHAT DO YOU EXPECT/WANT FOR THE FUTURE OF THE SMOKE HAUS BRAND?
For the future, it’s probably going to lead to more restaurants opening. I hope that’s the case, and just progression really, to move up the ranks and get a bigger name for The Smoke Haus.
SO WHY SHOULD PEOPLE COME AND GET SAUCY WITH YOU AT THE SMOKE HAUS?
I think it’s just different to other places, you don’t see this happening anywhere else. I mean, you can go and get a burger from anywhere, but it won’t be the same and it won’t be as good, we are really at the top of the game, and it’s the same across all of our food. The way we prepare, we cook and even serve is different, and that’s why you should visit us.
